The “Percorsi Outdoor” project is an initiative aimed at introducing young people aged between 18 and 25 with autism spectrum disorders into the world of work. Promoted by “Consorzio Solco” and “Fobap Onlus”, with the support of “La Cibek die casting” and “Rotary Club Brescia Veronica Gambara”, the project is financed by the Province of Brescia as part of the disabled ban.
The course includes 50 hours of classroom lessons to acquire technical and digital ‘Office Operator’ skills, as well as fundamental relational and social skills. Subsequently, participants carry out 100 hours of ‘on-the-job’ training in local companies or social cooperatives to put into practice what they have learnt. The course culminates in a six-month traineeship, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the young people’s job placement.
Each participant is supported by a tutor, trained through an advanced training course on autism held by neuropsychiatrist Roberto Keller. The project was officially presented on 19 April at the headquarters of “IAL Lombardia”, in the presence of the regional councillor for Education, Training and Employment, Mrs Simona Tironi.
Mrs Tironi highlighted the importance of such initiatives to improve the inclusion of disabled people in the world of work, pointing out that the Lombardy Region delegates to the provinces the management of funds deriving from fines paid by companies that do not employ disabled people, millions of euro every year. The councillor reiterated the need for a cultural change to recognise the value of people with disabilities in their working environments.
Work is life for these young people – true inclusion – and for companies they represent a great resource that cannot be wasted: we are mapping out a path for a better future! We are proud to support the path of Emma – one of these young people – who will be at La Cibek die casting for an internship in June-July.
